ORIGIN LOST

Your origin can be different then you might have thought. This is what I found out during a project about my own last name: van (from) Enkhuizen, a little place in the Netherlands. It turned out I was related to an Jewish-Portugese man that fled his country because he wasn't allowed to have his own religion in Portugal at the time of the East India Trading Company. During one of his sea travels he ended up in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands.

In a typeface I broke up the Hebrew alphabet in little pieces, allowing me to make a new typeface that almost doesn't show any characteristics of the Hebrew alphabet anymore. Except for small details. I made several versions showing the process of the origin getting more and more lost in time. The rest of the project was turned into a scientific process, doing research on my own blood to find out who I am. Shown in a stop-motion movie and a poster showing a microscopic image, but made in enormous proportions.
